Joseph Duggar is facing criminal charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older. He was extradited to Florida, where he was released on $600,000 bond after his initial court appearance. Phone calls between him and his wife, Kendra, were recorded while he was behind bars in Arkansas. Those calls have been revealed to the public. Joseph Duggar has a long legal road ahead of him for charges he is facing in Arkansas and Florida. His brother, Josh Duggar, is already serving a lengthy sentence for possessing child pornography. Now, it looks like if convicted, Joseph could face a minimum of 25 years in prison.
He pleaded not guilty after allegedly already confessing to inappropriate behavior with a then nine-year-old. The alleged incidents took place in 2020. Before being sent to Florida, Joseph was allowed to receive emails from family members as well as calls from Kendra. The calls were already revealed online. Now, it looks like the emails have been leaked as well.
On social media, fans are discussing the emails that were sent from Jim Bob, Anna, and Joy’s husband, Austin. In Jim Bob’s email to his son, he told him that he hopes Christians find their way into his life to help him through. He said, “You are just going to have to accept the situation at this point and it’s also fine to pray that God would have mercy on you, but you’re probably gonna face… major consequences for several years to come.”
Jim Bob assured him they are all stepping up to help and are taking care of Kendra.
The Other Leaked Emails
Anna Duggar also emailed Joseph while he was still in the Arkansas jail. She has been through a similar situation with Josh. She encouraged her brother-in-law not to speak about anything legal unless an attorney is present. Anna also reminded him that everything in these emails and phone calls is recorded and can be sent to prosecutors.
She also said she put money in his books for things he might need while in there. Anna also mentioned speaking with Kendra and praised her for her strength. She also said how much Kendra loves him.
Joy’s husband, Austin, also took time to send a quick message to his brother-in-law. He let Joseph know that he loves him and that they are helping Kendra. He also said that he won’t discuss the legal issues through this form of communication. Just like Anna, he encouraged him to only speak to attorneys regarding legal matters.
Austin also said, “Please know that God works despite the sin of man for his good.”
While Kendra reportedly told Joseph during one of their phone calls that the family is disappointed in him, she also said they all love and support him. Kendra was also arrested on completely separate charges involving their own children. Joseph, just like Kendra, was also charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree.
