Joseph and Kendra Duggar Reunited, Fighting Charges Together
Counting On’s Joseph and Kendra Duggar are back together at home in Arkansas. Joseph’s lawyer, Albert J. Sauline III, tells People that the couple got back together one day after the Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in Florida let him go.
After his release, Joseph flew back to Arkansas with his father, Jim Bob Duggar. Sauline says Jim Bob Duggar got to Florida three days before his son’s first court hearing there.
Sauline says that Joseph didn’t get to Bay County until more than three days after he was released from jail in Arkansas on March 27. He was one of the first people picked up by Florida officials on a cross-country trip to collect those being extradited to the state.
Joseph and Kendra Ready To Fight Charges Together
Joseph went to court for the first time just a few hours after the BCSO arrested him on March 31. He was released a few hours later after paying a $600,000 bond. Kendra and Joseph started selling properties and belongings to come up with the huge bail amount.
He and Kendra are getting ready for a court hearing in Arkansas on April 29. They are both charged with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a juvenile and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment.
Children’s Endangerment Allegations Are Not Related To Florida Charges
The allegations are not related to the ones in Florida. They were filed after the Tontitown Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Human Services searched the couple’s house on March 19.
The agencies searched on March 19, the day after Joseph was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim under 12 years old and for lewd and lascivious behavior with a person 18 years or older.
Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar Admit To Locks On Their Doors
A source close to the family said their arrests were a result of a home inspection after Joseph’s arrest. Authorities saw locks on the exterior of the doors. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been very open about locks outside their kids’ rooms as they grew up.
After finding out that their oldest son, Josh, had assaulted four of his sisters, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar decided that the best way to keep their 19 children safe was to lock them in their rooms every night.
Joe and Kendra could face 8 years each in Prison
If Joseph and Kendra are found guilty on all eight counts, they could each spend up to eight years in prison and pay thousands of dollars in fines.
The couple has not said anything publicly about the allegations yet; calls from jail said Kendra has hired her own lawyer to represent her in the case.
