The TLC star and her husband, Ben Seewald, have been giving all the details about their baby’s birth lately. However, Jessa surprised fans when she revealed a shocking thing Ben refused to do during their son’s birth. She admitted that her husband never had the chance to cut the umbilical cord.
So, the 19 Kids and Counting star wanted her husband to do that during the birth of their sixth baby. Ben refused to do it, and Jessa’s sister had to step in. Duggar explained, “Teasing him mostly because I know he has a very weak stomach for such things.” She revealed that her husband has been very supportive and caring. Still, he runs away from such sensitive things.

She revealed that they named their son Edward Owen Seewald. Ben explained, “Sometimes you’ve got to see their face and maybe even test some names out for a few days.” He shared how they struggled to decide on a name during the initial days. But they made up their mind and saw the happiness of their other kids. Jessa told Duggar News followers about how her kids were rooting for Edward.
She revealed it wasn’t the only reason they picked the name. The TLC star noted, “There’s some historical significance with Edward—Jonathan Edwards, King Edward VI of England. Jessa picked the middle name Owen, which is the last name of John Owen, her favorite theologian. She left the hospital with Ben and their baby without the name.
The hospital allowed them a week’s time to decide on a name before they made the birth certificate. So, Ben felt they could try using the name for one or two days each to make a better decision. Hence, it took them more than a week to choose Edward over other options.
