Josh’s ongoing appeal is only prolonging the nightmare of his scandal — and for Anna Duggar, the stress is becoming overwhelming.
Sources close to the family say Anna has been under intense pressure lately, and recent developments in her husband’s case have only made things worse. Reportedly, Anna doesn’t even want to deal with Josh’s appeal now that the process is moving forward — and honestly, who could blame her?
According to In Touch, Anna’s stress is what pushed her to delete her Instagram account earlier this month. She’s desperate to move on from everything related to Josh’s trial and conviction. “Anna wants nothing more than to check out and forget this nightmare Josh has brought upon her and the kids,” an insider explained.
One of the main reasons she’s no longer active on social media is because it adds to her anxiety. She simply doesn’t want to face the ongoing legal battle.
Just last week, Josh’s attorneys filed an appeal brief, ensuring that his case will continue to drag on, even while he serves time in federal prison. From what sources say, Anna is far from supportive of this move.
“She prayed Josh had been wrongly convicted, that he had changed his ways, that he was innocent,” the insider added. “But he was found guilty, sentenced, and she accepted it. That was already a nightmare for her. Now, the appeals process just feels like reopening old wounds.”
It’s unclear how much support Anna is receiving at this time. After Josh’s conviction, she reportedly distanced herself from anyone who didn’t share her belief in his innocence. As far as is known, Anna and her seven children are still living on Duggar property.
No word yet on how involved her own side of the family is, though hopefully she’s getting the support she needs.
Other reports suggest that Anna is slowly coming to terms with reality. A source previously told In Touch that Anna is trying to move forward — which makes sense, considering Josh won’t be released for more than a decade.
“She doesn’t want to get her hopes up,” the source explained. “While he’ll always be the father of her children, she isn’t sure there’s a future with Josh. She still communicates with him, but in her heart, all she has left is her kids and her faith.”
Given everything she’s endured, it’s hard to blame Anna for wanting to reclaim her life. For years, her world has revolved around this trial. She deserves peace — but it seems that won’t be possible until the appeal process finally comes to an end.
