Bringing Up Bates‘: Carlin Bates Sparks Controversy About Baby Daughter

Carlin recently made headlines after uploading a clip of her baby daughter, Navy, as she prepares her for their family outing. But what caught many’s attention was how Carlin constantly covers the head of her child. The Bringing Up Bates star previously shared that Navy has a bright, growing, red spot on her head. She thought it was her fault at first, but they later took it to a doctor and learned that it was an infantile hemangioma.

It’s a type of birthmark in which the blood vessels are tangled up just under the child’s skin. It’s not critically invasive and usually doesn’t require treatment. According to some, Carlin appears to be ashamed of her child’s mark, forcing her to make baby Navy wear clothing that seems uncomfortable. But it’s clear that it wasn’t her intention, and she may only be covering her child’s mark to prevent it from worsening.

Carlin Opens Up About Permanent Scar, Seeks Help

Carlin recently took to social media to share a new clip of herself talking about her scar. According to the Bringing Up Bates star, she has a little PSA for those who are trying to get iron infusions. Carlin explained that she had to take iron infusions during her pregnancy with Navy to stay healthy. However, some iron leaked into her skin, causing it to leave permanent scars. Carlin admits that she’s been frustrated about it and even sought help from multiple doctors, but she couldn’t find any answers.

Carlin was only told that it would lighten up as time passed. But she’s determined to heal fast, consulting her dermatologist. She was referred to undergo a laser therapy session, which could be quite expensive, but many patients find it effective in significantly reducing the appearance of skin issues over time. Carlin wrote, “If you’ve had a similar experience or know of anything that’s worked for you, please drop a comment below….any advice would be so appreciated!” Carlin went on to say that she has no regrets about doing it, and she’ll undergo iron infusions again for the sake of her baby’s health. Carlin also received support from family and friends in the comments section.

  • “I had mine for about 5 years. Wouldn’t know it was ever there now. Time is the answer.”
  • “Think of it as a battle scar. Show it proudly. It’s from a beautiful baby girl.”
  • “Never seen that but as a mom we are left with marks of our strength.”
  • “Be proud of your battle scar to have a healthy baby.”
